JINGLE BELL ROCK: TOP TEN FESTIVE FLOOR-FILLERS
AS VOTED FOR BY MOBILE DJS
It’s hard to say exactly what makes a Christmas song great, which is why we entrusted the people who know pop music better than anyone – our readers – to compile the list to end all lists. Yes, that’s right. We’ve counted your votes for the Top Ten Festive Floor-fillers. The results are in! And as you’d expect, the chart contains some absolute Christmas crackers, alongside some slightly less likely candidates…
Do They Know It's Christmas?
Band Aid
OK, so the follow up versions of Bob Geldof's pioneering charity track are questionable (even if Dizzee Rascal's rap in 2004 did add a new flavour) but this original was a genius concept and, when it boils down to it, for a great cause. If the guest appearances from Bono, Duran Duran, Sting, Paul Young, Spandau Ballet, George Michael and Paul Weller don't do it for you, then the catchy ensemble chorus, atmospheric verses and epic drum sounds must. While the lyrics have been the subject of controversy, there's certainly no debate when it comes to this song's credentials as a festive favourite – the first notable charity song and still the best! X-Factor eat your heart out…
