JINGLE BELL ROCK: TOP TEN FESTIVE FLOOR-FILLERS
AS VOTED FOR BY MOBILE DJS
It’s hard to say exactly what makes a Christmas song great, which is why we entrusted the people who know pop music better than anyone – our readers – to compile the list to end all lists. Yes, that’s right. We’ve counted your votes for the Top Ten Festive Floor-fillers. The results are in! And as you’d expect, the chart contains some absolute Christmas crackers, alongside some slightly less likely candidates…
All I Want For Christmas Is You
Mariah Carey
It kind of had to be, didn't it? This 1994 song from vocal powerhouse Mariah Carey has quickly been canonized as a Christmas classic, regularly topping national polls and top ten lists, including ours! Enveloped in a 60s-style 'wall of sound' production, the song showcases Carey's flexible voice, backed by sleigh bells, synths and doowop harmonies, as she sings about shunning presents in favour of spending time with her lover. Guaranteed to fill the floor every time, this unstoppable track will get all those romantics (young and old) up on the floor, as guests – the girls especially – get their dancing shoes on for a classic song that can be played at any point of the night. The magic of this track doesn't just lie in the sinceity of Carey's vocal performance, though; it lies in the fact that the song hints at the truly great thing about Christmas - the chance to spend time with loved ones. Perhaps that's why mobile DJs voted it as the ultimate Festive Floor-filler... Merry Christmas!
