JINGLE BELL ROCK: TOP TEN FESTIVE FLOOR-FILLERS
AS VOTED FOR BY MOBILE DJS
It’s hard to say exactly what makes a Christmas song great, which is why we entrusted the people who know pop music better than anyone – our readers – to compile the list to end all lists. Yes, that’s right. We’ve counted your votes for the Top Ten Festive Floor-fillers. The results are in! And as you’d expect, the chart contains some absolute Christmas crackers, alongside some slightly less likely candidates…
Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)
The Darkness
Not to everyone's taste, but making the list nonetheless, this guitar-heavy festive tune by cocky glam rockers The Darkness is the only post-2000 song to make our top ten! Parodying the usual Christmas festivities and peppered with double entendres, it's clear that the band were having some fun with this track, which was pipped to number one by Gary Jules’ surprise hit ‘Mad World’ when it was released in 2003. Featuring epic guitar solos, Justin Hawkins’ signature falsettos and plenty of glam-rock pomp, it's sure to cause a stir on the dance-floor at many Christmas parties this winter. Best played towards the end. Expect drunken air guitar and an influx of closet glam-rock fans to the floor!
