Hotly-Debated New Numark Lightwave Speaker Hits Shops
After showcasing it at NAMM 2015 earlier this year, Numark has released the new Lightwave a loudspeaker with a built-in beat-synched lightshow, designed for mobile DJs that want the convenience of having a portable speaker equipped with a ready-set lightshow.
Equipped with dual LED arrays, this compact powered speaker allows mobile DJs to provide sound and lighting for their audiences from the same convenient, easily transportable source. The speaker itself offers 200W peak power and 100W of continuous class D amplification, as well as three 6.5 woofers and a 1 tweeter. Adjusting the input level balancing is simple, thanks to the Lightwaves dual volume controls. Meanwhile, the stereo RCA, XLR/-inch jack combo and ⅛-inch jack inputs allow DJs to connect their mixers, microphones and even mp3 players directly to the back of the unit. Users can also link the Lightwave with other speakers and subwoofers using the provided XLR output.
It isnt just quality sound that Numark is offering, however. The Lightwave also comes fitted with LEDs, the brightness of which can be adjusted (or blacked out completely), while custom colour control allows the user to alter the RGB colour mix. Numark has also equipped the Lightwave with five customisable lighting modes (Mood, Metre, Mix, Pulse and Party), so mobile DJs can produce a lightshow for every event, whether mood lighting for a first dance or pulse effects that react to the sound produced by the speaker.
There are so many situations where people need both great sound and great lighting, said Chris Roman, Senior Product Manager for Numark. Lighting turns any situation into a party; it gets people excited and gets them in the celebration mood. When you add truly great sound to exciting lighting, youve got a memorable special occasion. Thats what the Lightwave does it turns ordinary events into special occasions. There is nothing else that combines great sound, dramatic mood/party lighting, easy setup and affordability like Lightwave.
Aside from being compact, lightweight (10.4kg) and ideal for private functions, house parties and karaoke nights, the Lightwave is fitted with rubber feet and a 36mm pole socket, so users can position it on flat surfaces or mount it onto their speaker stand. Housed in a durable cabinet, the speaker also remains free from damage and dust, making it ideal for taking on the road as part of a mobile setup.
Despite its range of features, the combination of sound and light offered by the Lightwave may not appeal to all mobile DJs, with the portable new speaker expected to split opinion
Love it or hate it, the Numark Lightwave is available now at an SSP of 219.99.
