The UK leg of Pioneer DJ’s rekordbox dj tour begins today (20th of October), providing mobile DJs with free training sessions that will showcase the new performance features of the updated rekordbox software and its accompanying Plus Pack.
Running through to January 2016, the tour – which begins this evening at The DJ Shop in Southampton – will see Pioneer DJ bring rekordbox 4.0 and the rekordbox dj Plus Pack to authorised dealers across the UK, before heading on to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. These interactive training sessions will let DJs explore this new Plus Pack and the software’s wide range of performance features, as well as demonstrating how to move smoothly between controllers, CDJs and XDJs using the same library.
Intended to rival the likes of Serato, VirtualDJ and Traktor, rekordbox dj is a paid-for upgrade of Pioneer’s rekordbox software. Designed for use with Pioneer CDJ players, the original software allows DJs to manage, prepare and analyse their music files from an ‘iTunes-style’ library, as well as check the compatibility of tracks without exporting them; preview the waveform of tracks directly from the playlist; match tracks based on key, BPM and genre; and create and edit tags for each track. The new rekordbox dj Plus Pack upgrade, meanwhile, adds to this flexibility, giving users access to a variety of performance tools, such as hot cues, sampler, slicer, sound colour FX and beat FX, as well as beat jump and the industry’s first pad FX.
Attendees at Pioneer’s free training sessions will have chance to see this software in action on the DDJ-RZ/DDJ-RX – the first plug-and-play controllers designed for rekordbox dj – and other supported hardware. In order to give DJs a chance to explore the features and put their new skills into practice, Pioneer also encourages attendees to bring along laptops and devices with rekordbox 4.0 already installed (free to download from the
rekordbox website).
DJs interested in attending should register for their local training session now, as places are limited – and being snapped up fast! Dates, times and venues are listed below. Registration is free and can be completed over on the
Pioneer DJ website, where mobile DJs can also find more information on the upcoming sessions.
