BPM DJ show to grow following PLASA acquisition
BPM, the UK’s only dedicated trade event for the DJ sector, will take place once again at Cranmore Park from 12-13 October 2024. Spanning mobile, radio, club and karaoke, the popular annual show offers a unique opportunity to get hands on with pro equipment and discover services to support a successful DJ career.

This year’s BPM however will have a different flavour because PLASA – the lead association for the entertainment technology industry – has acquired the show. This means that BPM will now align with PLASA’s market-leading trade events for live entertainment technology: PLASA Show and PLASA Focus Leeds.

PLASA Show and PLASA Focus Leeds span the entire live entertainment technology sector, ranging from pro audio and lighting to AV technology and staging and rigging. PLASA Show has been the UK’s flagship event for over four decades, welcoming 6,500+ visitors and 200+ brands each year. And PLASA Focus Leeds welcomes 2,000+ visitors and 150+ brands, with a reputation as the industry’s favourite – and most friendly – trade event.

With this experience and success, PLASA is strategically positioned to strengthen the BPM show in alignment with the growing DJ sector. Currently, BPM welcomes 40 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors. However, the PLASA team will work to expand the show floor and bring even more visitors to the show.

In addition to internationally significant trade events, PLASA serves the industry as an association, offering business support and technical guidance. Many BPM exhibitors are already PLASA members, which means that PLASA can now support its members’ business objectives across two distinct yet complimentary markets.

And with PLASA’s plans to increase its value for European members in 2024, BPM is a timely addition to the association’s commercial portfolio. European brands can now tap into the UK’s wider entertainment sector while gaining support and guidance as a PLASA member.

BPM Director, Mark Parkhouse, comments: “Developing and running BPM has been an incredible journey. But now it’s time for the show to evolve, and PLASA are strongly positioned to be the new guardian. Together with my business partners, Kris Dawber and Jack Wilson, we wish PLASA and BPM a long and successful future. And I highly recommend you check out the BPM this year!”

PLASA Managing Director, Peter Heath, adds: “PLASA is the proud new owner of BPM, a fantastic show full of potential. The DJ market is growing in various directions, and it really is an exciting time to get involved. You can expect to see the show grow and evolve over the coming years, and we will do our best to retain the show’s essence while adding the PLASA signature experience.”

BPM will return to Cranmore Park in Solihull, as planned, from 12-13 October, to ensure the smooth transition of ownership. However, from 2025, BPM will relocate, with a refreshed vision and larger format to reflect the expansion of the DJ and producer profession. Further information about BPM 2024 will be published over the coming months.

PLASA is the lead international membership body for those who supply technologies and services to the event and entertainment industries. The Association works to ensure that each sector is fully represented and plays an active role in highlighting best practice and safe working conditions.

PLASA supports its members by providing advisory and support services across business, technical, safety and regulatory issues, as well as a range of membership benefits, events and training courses, including three industry-recognised certification and training programs for riggers and production technicians.

PLASA’s commercial divisions play a crucial role in supporting Association activities. Print and digital editions of LSi magazine are read by professionals in over 120 countries, while PLASA Show in London and regional Focus events provide businesses with the opportunity to showcase their technology and services.

The Association works actively with its members through its Membership Governing Body and specialist working groups. This continual collaboration creates opportunities for all members and shares knowledge, enabling businesses and individuals to grow personally and professionally, benefiting the wider industry.
