Returning for its fourth year, the 2016 Pro Mobile Conference took place last weekend – running from 28-29th February – giving like-minded mobile DJs a chance to learn from renowned speakers, network with their peers, meet with suppliers and socialise at the event’s elegant Gala Dinner.
From the DJ-relevant content of Randy Bartlett and Peter Merry’s humour-filled but informative joint lead keynote, to the fascinating business perspective offered by industry outsiders such as mentalist Gilan Gork and internet expert Graham Jones, delegates found an educational programme packed with renowned speakers and thought-provoking take-homes.
Returning delegate Fabio Capozzi told us that this year’s event had offered “two days of motivating, top quality content and great education that has left me totally invigorated and re-inspired!”
Of course, when delegates weren’t inside the conference theatre picking up game-changing ideas for their DJ businesses, the Break Out Rooms gave them a chance to meet with representatives from top brands and associations. ADJ, Chauvet DJ, FBT, Pioneer DJ and SubSafe all had new products on show, while DJ Event Planner, NADJ and SEDA were on-hand to explain exactly what their services and membership packages can do for mobile DJs.
Elsewhere during the two-day event, delegates had the chance to network extensively, during dedicated networking breakfasts and lunches, as well in the hotel bar on the evening. An essential aspect of the Conference, these networking opportunities gave veterans and brand new delegates alike a chance to swap details, share ideas and generally offer support and advice, with delegate Laura Mackie saying that “the Conference was a great opportunity for networking; you really get chance to talk to people.”
On Sunday, following the announcement of the Pro Mobile Lifetime Achievement Award – this year awarded to BPM-PRO Event Director Mark Walsh, delegates enjoyed a delicious three-course meal at the Gala Dinner, after which guests hit the ‘casino’ to try their hand at poker, roulette and craps – inspired to take a gamble by Caspar Berry’s insightful session on ‘risk’ earlier in the day.
“If you are not coming to the Pro Mobile Conference you are seriously missing out on the best DJ training available in the UK – inspiring, educational and fun!” said repeat delegate Gary Evans-Osgood, urging DJs to make the most of the great content on offer. Meanwhile, Steven Honeyball praised “a fantastic few days of inspirational education and networking with like-minded individuals,” before adding that “the skills taught and learnt can even be used and applied across all industries.”
But it wasn’t just Conference regulars shouting its praises this year, the event was just as inspiring for the wealth of new delegates who attended: “Amazing first time at Pro Mobile Conference and well worth the drive,” enthused 2016 delegate David Mitchell, who travelled all the way down from Scotland. “From knowledge to networking, meeting the suppliers to those penny-drop moments… See you next year!”
