Numark Announces Dashboard Screen for Serato Controllers
DJ equipment manufacturer Numark this week announced the launch of a new outboard three-screen display, enabling users to update their Serato controller with a 4.3” full-colour LCD screen. The new Dashboard connects to a wide range of Serato DJ mixer DVS solutions and controllers, allowing mobile DJs to update their existing systems.
Building on the company’s NS7III – which offered real-time visual feedback of Serato DJ via three 4.3” full-colour screens – Dashboard delivers a similar capability to those mobile DJs using Serato controllers that don’t already have screen displays. The Dashboard provides users with the visual benefits of having three 4.3” full-colour LCD displays and is compatible with almost all Serato DJ authorised solutions, regardless of brand.
“DJs that are either turntablists or controllerists want to be free from their laptop – they want visual control of all the elements of their performance while keeping in immediate contact with the crowd,” said Chris Roman, Senior Product Manager for Numark. “With Numark’s Dashboard added onto their existing Serato controller, that’s exactly what they get – 1:1 real-time feedback of Serato DJ, complete with stacked waveforms, Song, Artist, Time and BPM. They don’t need a brand-new controller – just add Dashboard.”
Two of the Dashboard’s screens provide moving waveforms, playhead, deck and FX status, while the third, central screen gives the DJ a dedicated view of their track library, with corresponding navigational controls. This third screen can also be switched to display stackable parallel waveforms, giving mobile DJs complete beat-matching control over their active programs. These screens provide 1:1 real-time feedback of Serato DJ, enabling users to close or move the source laptop and focus on their music – something that is not possible with all current controllers and DVS solutions.
Additional features of the Numark Dashboard include three height adjustments with full tilt control; five columns showing song, artist, time, BPM and key; and on-screen gridlines to enable more accurate beat matching. The new Dashboard is compatible with over 40 existing Serato DJ control systems including DVS.
Dashboard will be available from Numark in this spring at an SSP of £279.99.
