Another entry from a Motown girl group, the Diana Ross-led Supremes join Martha & the Vandellas in your Top Ten with their sugar-sweet 1964 hit, ‘Baby Love’. This song was as much loved by the masses as it was on the dance-floors – a stone-cold classic that featured the delicate harmonies of the Supremes and the unbeatable backing of the Motown label’s official band, the Funk Brothers. The third in a string of five consecutive US number ones, ‘Baby Love’ helped make The Supremes the only act to rival The Beatles in terms of commercial appeal during the mid-sixties.
