Mobile DJ Learning Hub At BPM | PRO 2017
With the summer now well and truly here, BPM|PRO is looming on the horizon. In 2017 the annual gathering of the DJ industry will once again take place at the Genting Arena on the site of the Birmingham NEC, running this year on Sunday the 22nd and Monday the 23rd of October. For this year’s event Pro Mobile will be teaming up with the NADJ to host a new-look Learning Hub for mobile DJs.

As always, BPM | PRO will feature a huge exhibition area packed with stands from all the leading sound and lighting brands. It is a great opportunity to see the latest equipment ‘in the flesh’ and try it out for yourself. The event’s PA Experience area is also a unique chance to hear a wide variety of portable sound systems, from all the leading manufacturers, demonstrated side-by-side in a ‘gig-sized’ space located off the main show floor.

However there’s more to the event than just gear, it is also a great opportunity to meet and network with fellow mobile DJs from across the UK, and even further afield, and also to learn from your peers. For BPM | PRO 2017 Pro Mobile is teaming up with the NADJ to host the Mobile DJ Learning Hub. This will re-invent mobile-DJ-focussed learning at the show with a continuous interactive programme of inspiring and informative sessions running throughout the two days. "NADJ are so looking forward to working in partnership with Pro Mobile within this year’s Learning Hub at BPM | PRO, commented association chairman Pete Hawkins. “We have some amazing seminars lined up for everyone to experience. I look forward to seeing you all there!"”

The NADJ’s Education Officer Alan Marshall will act as the host for the area, introducing each of the guest speakers and also throwing in lots of his own ideas and advice. “I am really excited to be hosting both days in the Mobile DJ Learning Hub this year,” enthused Alan. “It will feature some fresh new seminars combined with an interactive experience designed to create a fun informative flow to the day, one that embraces the fact that education and training should be fun! After all, we are in the entertainment business!”

The full line-up of presentations will be announced in plenty of time before the show, giving you lots of time to plan your visit. However, a number of speakers have already been confirmed including Euan Bass, who will be making his BPM | PRO speaking debut as well as Derek Pengelly, who will be presenting his last ever seminar before retiring from mobile DJ education.
Mastermix label manager Richard Lee will give a talk titled ‘The Evolution of DJs’, taking a look at DJs from the 1950s through to the present day using music and visuals to deliver an engaging presentation. Visuals expert Phil Bearman will also be involved, hosting a presentation called ‘From DJ to VJ – Using Video To Enhance Your Events’, which will be a fast-paced demonstration of how video screens and projection can provide a versatile addition to any DJ’s rig.

As well as more traditional seminar-style presentations, there will also be more interactive sessions. Tony Winyard will host a ‘DJ Debate’ where members of the audience will be invited to take part in a live discussion on a current hot topic. Pro Mobile’s editor Eddie Short will also host a panel discussion featuring established full-time DJs who will offer advice for their colleagues who are considering ‘taking the plunge’ and making their passion for DJing a full-time career.

“Pro Mobile has been involved with the BPM | PRO learning sessions aimed at mobile DJs throughout the show’s 10 year history, and the NADJ has also contributed presentations on many occasions”, explained Pro Mobile’s Editor, Eddie Short. “Therefore it was a natural progression for us to team up this year, put our heads together, and come up with an exciting new format. Unlike in past years, when each session has stood alone, this year the NADJ national committee and I have worked together to curate the presentations and Alan, acting as host on the day, will link them all together into a non-stop learning programme. Whether you choose to spend a full day soaking up the learning, or just drop in for a session or two, you’ll find that this year’s Mobile DJ Learning Hub will truly raise the bar for DJ education in a show environment.”

The combination of an exciting show floor and packed educational programme means that it will be impossible to take everything in, so why not book a hotel room and stay over to attend both days of the show? As added incentive, we’ll be hosting an official After Party alongside the guys at ADJ across the road at Resorts World after the show closes. Be sure to pick up your party wristband from the Pro Mobile stand – EC01 – and then join us for drinks and live music on Sunday evening in the World Bar.

Tickets for BPM | PRO are on sale now, with ‘early bird’ prices available until Monday (the 31st of July). As a Pro Mobile reader you can also save yourself £5 by entering the code PM5OFF when you order your tickets online in advance. So to secure your standard ticket for the show – valid for entry on both days – for just £10, be sure to order right away!
