You’ve voted his biggest track, ‘Great Balls of Fire’, as your second favourite floor-filler of the 1950s – and it’s a song as influential as any on this list. A genre dominated by guitars until Lewis came along, he pioneered the piano sound of rock and roll; his showmanship and fast-paced playing paving the way for future stars like Elton John. This song’s title, taken from a Southern expression, was considered blasphemous by Christian groups at the time, which only fuelled its popularity with young music fans!
