Status Quo Reach 100th Single
The British group have finally released their 100th single after a whopping 45 years in the music industry. ‘Bula Bula Quo!’ comes from their forthcoming studio album ‘Bula Quo’.
Their first single ‘Pictures Of Matchstick Men’ was released back in January 1968 and reached no.7 in the UK. Since their initial hit, Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Brown and John ‘Rhino’ Edwards have released over 60 charting hits in the UK. They scored two number one singles with ‘Down Down’ in 1974 and in 1994 with ‘Come On You Reds’ singing alongside Manchester United.
Francis Rossi spoke of his excitement at the milestone, “One hundred singles seems incredible even to me, and I recorded them all. When we started out, we would have been happy to survive a couple of years in this business so to reach this milestone is unbelievable." Bandmate Rick Parfitt added, "We always joke that you'd get less time for murder but, in all honesty, we'd like to thank all the Quo fans all over the world who have sustained us on what has been an amazing ride."
The track, which is now on the Radio 2 playlist is one of a number of songs featured in their forthcoming album and film both named ‘Bula Quo’. Other tracks on the album will include live or revamped versions of Quo classics as well as a Fijian-style take on ‘Living On An Island’. The album is out now, whilst the film is due out next month.
