Daft Punk Take Charts By Storm
French DJ duo Daft Punk have taken both the single and album charts by storm. Their single ‘Get Lucky’ has overtaken Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Thrift Shop’ to become the biggest selling release of the year so far.

The single has now sold around 650,000 copies and spent four weeks at number one, Daft Punk’s first ever stint at the top spot. The pair, which is made up of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, gained significant popularity in the late 90s and have since released four studio albums as well as two live albums and various compilations.

Daft Punk are also enjoying the success of their new album ‘Random Access Memories’ which accumulated more than 100,000 sales in its first two days on sale. The album, which is set to spend a second week at number one when Sunday’s Official Chart is announced, has sold a staggering 165,000 copies so far. That figure is already enough to make the album the top seller of 2013 to date. Their previous album ‘Discovery’, which was released back in 2001, only reached number 2 with just 50,629 copies sold in the first week.
