Rod Stewart Announces New Material
Aside from his recent Christmas album, ageing rocker Rod Stewart hasn’t released any new original material in almost 15 years. His highly anticipated new album ‘Time’ will be made up of entirely new tracks, showing he hasn’t lost his songwriting touch.
The 68 year old who is married to photographer and model Penny Lancaster has just released the video to his new single ‘It’s Over’. Rod both wrote and produced the track, which is about divorce and separation, and goes back to his original gritty style.
Much of his new album hones in on his love for honest, narrative storytelling and was written after his recent autobiography. He discusses feeling inspired to be creative again, “Something about that process of reviewing my life for the book reconnected me and that was it: I was away. Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head. Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me.”
Rod has worked with wife Penny to create the album artwork (pictured below) as well as the promo shot for his new single. The album ‘Time’ will be available for purchase on the 6th of May and is unlikely to disappoint.
