Peter Gabriel Returns With 25th Anniversary Album
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of his album ‘So’, Peter Gabriel will be releasing a newly re-mastered version of the 1986 album. As well as the remastered album, the ‘So’ anniversary editions also include a Special Edition 3 CD and Deluxe box set formats. All formats will be available on the 22nd of October.
The Deluxe format, which is shown below, includes ‘So DNA’, a CD which includes a unique insight into the writing and recording of ‘So’. The disc contains a track by track evolutionary process leading you from the early moments when rhythms, melodies and lyrical ideas were discovered through the various stages of song development and recording.
The collection also includes two DVDs: The first is ‘Live In Athens’, a previously unreleased concert which has been restored and pieced together from over 150 reels of original 35mm negatives and remixed in 5.1. The second is ‘So: Classic Album’ which is a documentary that tells the story behind the making of ‘So’ and features contributions from many of those involved in the album and videos, with interviews with Peter, co-producer Daniel Lanois and many more.
There are two vinyl LPs: An 180grm ‘So’ which has has been mastered at half speed to maximize the audio quality, unlike the original, and is favoured by the artist. The other is a double A side which includes two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Cougar’ and ‘Sagrada’ plus ‘Don’t Give Up’ (alternative version piano and bvox mix). Lastly the Deluxe Edition also includes a 60 page case bound book which includes an introduction and ‘So DNA’ summary by Peter, new liner notes and an extensive collection of rare and never before seen photographs.
