YouTube phenomenon DJ Tutor has teamed up with ToneMine.com, an interactive ringtone service and web community, to run a competition to find the best original ringtones created using ToneMine.com. The top three ringtones, as determined by the ToneMine.com and DJ Tutor communities, will receive distribution on ToneMine.com and LetsTalk.com, while the overall winner will bag a brand new BlackBerry smartphone.
Open to anyone, participants can mix their own ringtones using the simple tools and sound packs on ToneMine.com. The drag and drop interface allows for easy navigation and musical exploration within eight music genres.
"The thousands of armchair musicians who have mixed ringtones on ToneMine.com are proof of the strong consumer demand for original and creative ways to personalize a cell phone," said Dave Frame, chief marketing officer for LetsTalk.com and creator of ToneMine. "Together with DJ Tutor, we're hopeful that our contest will help encourage a new wave of ringtone compositions while discovering this musical genre's first superstar."
"With DJs like Arman Van Buuren and Paul Van Dyke embracing ringtones, this contest allows famous and amateur DJs to share and promote their mixes via mobile phones," said Jonathan Lewis (AKA DJ ellaskins), creator of DJ Tutor. "This new type of distribution on mobile phones is important for DJs because it allows for a mix that was created in one's living room to be shared amongst friends and fans who are out there liking your style. Then it will be across the web in hours and soon to be ringing on every phone."
