ARTICLE
By Dave Evans.
Originally from Northampton, Greg moved to Australia, where he started his DJ career at the age of 17 in Perth, Western Australia. He quickly established himself on Perth’s drum and bass scene and ran his own drum and bass label, Interphase Music.

Greg moved over to soul, funk and disco in 2013, creating his own edits and remixes of classic tracks – and with this came the creation of Dr Packer.

Numerous awards followed, including becoming Traxsource’s #1 Nu Disco / Indie Dance Artist for 2017, 2018 and 2021, and Australian Producer of the Year in 2020 amongst others. His remixes for the likes of Chaka Khan, Bootsy Collins, Salsoul Orchestra, Kathy Brown and many more are featured on the playlists of prominent DJs such as Greg Wilson, Dimitri from Paris and Joey Negro.

In 2020, Greg began a monthly resident radio show on Street Sounds Radio, a classic label he grew up listening to.

I was also a big lover of reggae, collecting tracks from my favourite reggae label Greensleeves.

Q: Was it hard to get your name known outside Perth, given the lack of internet back in the early 90s?
