They say good things come to those who wait. And oh, how we’d waited! Finally, after two long years, the Pro Mobile Conference returned bigger than ever, bringing together top-class keynote talks, boundless networking opportunities and a glitzy Gala Dinner to ensure the mobile DJ industry’s landmark annual event did not disappoint. It’s certainly good to be back.

Here’s a snapshot of what went down across the two action-packed days.

YOUR MAGICAL CONFERENCE HOST - PAUL MARTIN
A member of the world-famous Magic Circle, influential magician Paul Martin brings his brilliant humour and spellbinding professionalism to the stage as the Conference’s official Magical Host.

YOUR ATTITUDE FOR SUCCESS - ALAN BERG
Victim cards.

We all have one. But it’s up to us whether we choose to play it. Educator and Certified Speaking Professional Alan Berg delivers the lead keynote of the Conference.

Captivating his audience with stories and real-life lessons, Alan drew on his 25 years in sales, marketing, and sales management to implore delegates to be thankful, make the time, and always stay positive. Throughout ‘Your Attitude for Success’ the takeaways just kept on coming…

THE POWER OF VULNERABILITY - DAN KEELEY
Mental health advocate and long-distance runner Dan Keeley gives an emotionally honest and hard-hitting talk about the power of vulnerability.

Telling the story of his ‘Rome to Home’ project, delegates were left wowed by Dan Keeley’s candidness, as well as his physical achievements, after running self-supported from Rome back to his home in the UK. He stressed the importance of loved ones, getting back to the essentials in life, and why you should always speak up when you’re struggling.

SELLING WITH IMPACT - LEE SMITH
Absolute magic… successful magician and speaker Lee Smith presents ‘Selling With Impact’

Don’t be an extra – make yourself essential! This was the key message from magician Lee Smith’s keynote, ‘Selling with Impact’. Retelling the story of his own journey from inexperienced magician to industry leader, Lee posed several questions to delegates. Do you know who you are and what your passion is? Do you understand the value of what you give your customers and how to solve their problems? Safe to say, Lee brought plenty of magic to the Inspiration Suite.

SOCIAL MEDIA MAKEOVER - ROB FERRE
The charismatic Rob Ferre brings energy and enthusiasm to the stage on Sunday afternoon.

His interactive keynote – ‘Social Media Makeover’ – gave delegates plenty of ways to get involved and even carry out real-time improvements to their social media profiles. Encouraging the audience to Google themselves right there and then, Rob stressed the importance of first impressions – especially in an online world where attention spans are short.

BELIEVE, ACHIEVE - STEPHANIE HIRST
Radio legend Stephanie Hirst told her inspiring story of personal struggle and big ambition for a special guest keynote on Sunday afternoon.

Returning to the theme of ‘Believe, Achieve’ throughout her talk, Stephanie explained how she battled against the odds not only to find success as a radio DJ but also to resolve the internal conflict she felt despite that success. The result was a story of highs and lows; successes and failures; but always of self-belief and determination.

GALA DINNER AND PRO MOBILE AWARDS
Besuited DJs? Three course meal? Live magic tricks? Rockaoke? It can only be the Pro Mobile Conference Gala Dinner!

With the learning done for the day, delegates got dressed up for a delicious sit-down meal followed by the annual Pro Mobile Awards, which saw the magazine’s founder and original editor, Eddie Short, come away with the ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Industry’ award, and Phase One’s Mike Stead crowned the DJ’s DJ. Then it was dancing shoes on for an evening’s entertainment from the ever-brilliant Rockaoke.

NETWORKING
Vital connections… delegates network with likeminded DJs in the Breakout Area.

THE VOICE - ROB FERRE
In his second high-energy keynote talk of the conference, Rob Ferre shared tips for finding your natural voice and using it to command and connect with your audience.

Offering up a bucket-load of takeaways, Rob shared his techniques for commanding and engaging audiences, how to avoid common pitfalls and cliche phrases, and creating structure and proper segues whilst on the mic.

BUILD YOUR BRAND - RACHEL HOLMES
Presenter, entrepreneur and educator, Rachel Holmes delivered her inspirational ‘Build Your Brand’ keynote on Monday morning.

With over 30 years’ experience in the fitness and business industry, Rachel knows a thing or two, not just about building fitness but about building brand identity too. Drawing on her own knowledge as an early social media pioneer, Rachel’s brilliant talk showed delegates how to build their brands on TikTok, Instagram and other popular platforms.

SHUT UP AND SELL MORE - ALAN BERG
Shut up and sell more! Alan Berg’s message hits hard in his second keynote of the Conference.

Providing delegates with a crash course in unique selling styles, Alan explained how to ask better questions, listen properly to clients’ answers, and help your customers move along the buying journey.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR BUSINESS FINANCES? - ANNA GOODWIN
Making finance seem easy… accountant and accomplished speaker Anna Goodwin shared tips for better tax efficiency in her informative Monday afternoon keynote.

Do you understand your business finances? This was the question posed by Anna, as she advised delegates on choosing the right tax status and getting their books in order ahead of the government’s new Making Tax Digital (MTD) scheme in 2024.

THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (ON AND OFF STAGE) - RICHARD LEE
Seeing out the 2022 Conference in style! Industry legend Richard Lee pulls out all the stops for his incredible end of show keynote, ‘The Greatest Showman’.

Could your offstage – as well as onstage – personality help you stand out from the competition and secure more gigs? Richard used examples from his own career and those of other DJs and performers to offer up unique ideas for delegates to take away and implement in their own business plans. (The top hat is of course optional…)
