Goldie Lookin’ Chain Celebrate A Decade
Welsh Group Goldie Lookin’ Chain are going on a ten-year anniversary tour to mark their first ever gig.

When they stormed the UK with fake jewellery and ‘chavvy’ tracksuits they were immediately written off as a novelty act. However the group, which has 9 full-time members and an additional 9 extras, managed to achieve notoriety with their no. 3 single ‘Guns Don’t Kill People Rappers Do’, two top ten albums and one of their rappers appearing on Big Brother. The loud-mouthed group also managed to upset the Football Association of Wales by chanting ‘Your Missus Is A Nutter’ at David Beckham.

The group are actually still together and with 17 children between them they need to keep working, so are now turning their skills back to music. Rapper John ‘Eggsy’ Rutledge spoke about his shock at it being ten years since their first gig, “There is this kind of weird legacy that has happened that I can’t get my head around, it feels like it has only been about four years in my mind. Realising it’s 10 makes you stop and think a bit.”

They have also recently teamed up with the Tiny Brewing Company to create a brewed beer named ‘Diverse Music Presents Goldie Lookin Ale’, a name which must have taken them a great deal of time to come up with! The beer will be sold across the UK and is a collaboration between the group and Diverse Music, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary of being Newport’s best record store.
