G-A-Y Club Releases 20 Year Compilation
Legendary club G-A-Y has released a brand new compilation CD and digital album via Sony Music named ‘G-A-Y The Album’ to coincide with the brand's 20th anniversary.
The club, which started out in the 90s, has become notorious for its headline performers including Mariah Carey, Adele and Madonna. Based in London, the club is now an institution to the British music scene with visitors flocking through the doors every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Founder Jeremy Joseph started off in Busby’s before moving to London’s Astoria which held the club’s infamous Saturday nights. The club has since moved to Heaven following the venue’s destruction in 2008 and has remained one of London’s key locations ever since. There are also two G-A-Y bars in London as well as one in Manchester. Jeremy commented on the lifespan of the club “I can't believe that G-A-Y is 20 Years old. It's been an incredible journey of highs and lows. I never had a vision for G-A-Y, just to create something I enjoyed and hoped others would as well. G-A-Y has always been about supporting artists at the beginning of their careers and supporting them as they grow, and in return as they get bigger, they continue to perform at G-A-Y.”
‘G-A-Y The Album’ includes classics that have won the test of time and are still ever-present in DJ sets today such as ‘Spice Up Your Life’ from the Spice Girls and ‘S Club Party’ by S Club 7, Whigfield's ‘Saturday Night’ and ‘Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit’ from 90s pop queen Gina G. The compilation also includes several artists who have graced the G-A-Y stage in recent years such as Rihanna (pictured above), Lady Gaga and The Pussycat Dolls.
A full track listing is available from the G-A-Y website and the album is out now priced at £12.99.
