Les Miserables Soundtrack Tops Chart

The soundtrack to the critically acclaimed Les Miserables has topped the UK album chart. The release is the first cast recording to hit the top spot in the UK and Ireland since 1997’s ‘Evita’.
Anne Hathaway, who is nominated for an Oscar because of her performance in the film, has also been praised for her rendition of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. The track has even had success in its own right, hitting number 22 on the singles chart in the UK.
The compilation contains highlights from the 150 minute long film including ‘On My Own’, ‘Empty Chairs At Empty Tables’ and ‘Suddenly’, a new song which was written especially for the film production. However, this still leaves over an hour of music missing from the soundtrack and fans are petitioning for the full score to be released. Russell Crowe, who plays Inspector Javert, is also in support of the release, tweeting: "I know there has been talk of releasing the complete score and 48 tune soundtrack of #LesMis tell @UniversalPics you want it."
The Les Miserables soundtrack has knocked Brit-nominated Emeli Sande's best-selling ‘Our Version of Events’ into second-place on the UK album chart, while newcomer Jake Bugg's self-titled debut comes in third.
