20 Biggest Selling Groups Announced
It’s almost 60 years since the start of the Official Singles Chart and in the lead up to its birthday the Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time have been revealed.

It won’t be a surprise to many that with 31 top 40 hits and 17 number one singles, The Beatles are the biggest selling band in the history of the charts. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are also 400,000 sales ahead of Elvis Presley, which makes them the biggest selling act of all time as well. Their biggest selling track is their fifth release ‘She Loves You’ back in 1963.

The quintet are closely followed by ‘We Will Rock You’ composers Queen who have sold 12.8 million singles, topped by ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ which reached number one in four different years. The band’s Greatest Hits album is the UK’s biggest selling album of all time.

Swedish pop sensation Abba is at number 3 with sales of 11.3 million copies. The group went their separate ways in 1982 but not before clocking up 25 top 40 hits and 9 number ones. Their biggest selling track is ‘Dancing Queen’ which is much loved today as back then.

Leaping over the likes of Wham, The Police, Take That and the Spice Girls are the Rolling Stones who come in at number 4 followed by Oasis in fifth place.
