X Factor Is Back!
Tonight (Saturday the 25th) will see the return of the programme that has churned out pop stars such as JLS, Leona Lewis and Cher Lloyd. The 2012 judging panel includes Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland’s replacement Nicole Sherzinger.

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the X Factor is a highly popular chunk of TV cheese! Presenter Dermot O'Leary said: “We're back and we are going to be better than ever. We're the country's number one singing show and we want to keep it that way!”

The X Factor 2012 auditions took place in 6 major cities and saw nearly 500 acts. In a change to the rules, auditions were open to everyone including acts with management. The age limit of the ‘Overs’ category was also raised from 25 to 28 with judge Gary Barlow commenting, “This year the level of talent has been amazing. In particular, there was an overwhelming amount of amazing singers in the 'Overs' category, so we raised the age limit of that category to spread the talent around and to increase the competition in the boys and girls categories.”

Other changes include the Bootcamp taking place in Liverpool instead of London and this year’s live final will take place at Manchester Central in front of 11,000 people. Louis Walsh added, “Our Live Final is going to be another major event, so The X Factor 2012 has everything! I believe it's going to be our best series yet.”

The X Factor series has been the number one entertainment show in the UK for 8 years with former contestants selling more 100 million records worldwide, including 110 number ones, 270 top 10, and 501 top 50 releases, we bet Simon Cowell is laughing all the way to the bank! The 2011 final at Wembley Arena was in front of a 12,000 strong audience and was the most watched TV show of the year.
