The Proclaimers Mark 25 Years
Scottish band The Proclaimers, which is made up of twin brothers, Charlie and Craig Reid, are celebrating 25 years together by releasing their new single ‘Spinning Around In The Air’. Funnyman Matt Lucas has written the script and also made his director’s debut for the accompanying video.
The duo, who are probably best known for the songs ‘Letter from America’, ‘I'm On My Way’ and of course ‘I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)’, has been touring extensively throughout Europe and other continents. They have released eight studio albums from 1987 until the present, as well as two compilation albums and a DVD; their next studio album is expected for 2012.
Since coming off the road in the summer 2010 after a 15 month world tour, the brothers spent a year writing, subsequently recording their ninth studio album, ‘Like Comedy’, in September 2011. The same year the band scored history in Scotland when two of their tracks, "Sunshine on Leith" and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" were featured on ‘Scotland's Greatest Album’.
The Proclaimers will have a busy summer in the UK and Europe, including headlining the Hebridean and Big Tent festivals in Scotland, the Cambridge Folk Festival and main-stage appearances at the V Festivals. October and November will see a 28 date UK tour.
‘Spinning Around In The Air’ is available now.
