Mastermix Party Volume 5
Mastermix has just released a must-have CD, the Party Volume 5 is a perfect tool for any hardworking DJ. The disc boasts five retro mixes with hits from the 60s to the present day, including some cheesy favourites. With 40 incredible floor-fillers this is the essential ‘get the party started’ megamix, with hits such as ‘It’s Raining Men’ by The Weather Girls and ‘ABC’ from The Jackson 5.
The CD kicks off with ‘The Greatest Hits Of Motown Pt.1’ which is a fantastic feel-good mix containing all the lively hits of the soul era including ‘ABC’ and ‘I Want You Back’ by the Jackson 5, and two of Stevie Wonder’s signature smashes ‘Sir Duke’ and ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’. Adding a bit of ‘girl power’ to the mix are Mary Wells with ‘My Guy’, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas with ‘Jimmy Mack’ and of course no Motown mix is complete without The Supremes and ‘Stop! In The Name Of Love’. The mix then rounds off with the sing-a-long classic by Jr. Walker and The All Stars, ‘How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)’.
Next up is the ‘Pop Party’ mix which is started by the late, great, Michael Jackson with ‘Billie Jean’ and moves into a much more cheesy section with ‘The One and Only’ by Chesney Hawkes and ‘Relight My Fire’ by Take That and Lulu. There are also some other less cringe worthy contributions, however, including Justin Timberlake’s ‘Sexyback’ and modern pop favourite Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’.
We’re then into full party mode with the swinging ‘60s Party’ mix in the company of the iconic Chubby Checker and his hits ‘Let’s Twist’ and ‘Let’s Twist Again’. The Monkees also make an appearance with their No. 1 song ‘I’m a Believer’ and even Welsh Wonder Tom Jones pops up with his ‘song that Grandma’s love’ ‘It’s Not Unusual.’ The mix also features hits by Lulu and The Luvvers and Cliff Richard amongst other 60s party faves.
‘The Greatest Hits Of Motown Pt. 2’ is another well-constructed mix with more iconic Detroit sounds. Contributions are made by Smokey Robinson with ‘The Tears Of A Clown’ and ‘This Old Heart Of Mine’ by the Isley Brothers. Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, The Four Tops and The Supremes also make reappearances on this second Motown mix, so good they had to put them in twice!
Finishing Party Volume 5 is the ‘80s Party’ mix, an ultimate dance-a-long selection with some toe tapping classics. The mix includes well-loved numbers such as ‘It’s Raining Men’ by the Weather Girls and ‘Baggy Trousers’ by Madness, alongside a song whose video propelled Courtney Cox to stardom, it is of course ‘Dancing In The Dark’ by ‘the Boss’ Bruce Springsteen. ‘80s Party’ is s fab end to a fun-filled CD.
Mastermix Party Volume 5 is available now priced at £10.21.
