Paul McCartney is one of our greatest living songwriters and he will pay homage to some of the songs that inspired his greatest songwriting achievements on a forthcoming, still-untitled, album due out on the 7th of February 2012 via Hear Music/Concord Records.

The album, his first since 2007, will include reinterpretations of songs that shaped his illustrious career both with The Beatles and as a solo artist. The album will also feature two new tracks titled 'My Valentine' and 'Only Our Hearts'. 'My Valentine' features a cameo from Eric Clapton, while 'Only Our Hearts' is another collaboration, this time with Stevie Wonder.



McCartney recorded his take on the classic tracks at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, New York and London throughout the past year. "When I kind of got into songwriting, I realized how well structured these songs were and I think I took a lot of my lessons from them", the songwriter commented in a statement about the forthcoming release.
