Celestion Releases New FTX Range of Coaxial Speakers
Audio manufacturer Celestion has launched its new FTX range of ‘common magnet motor’ coaxial speakers, giving mobile DJs a more powerful, more efficient and higher quality speaker system that’s great for use in small-medium sized venues.
When compared to traditional two-way systems, Celestion’s new coaxial loudspeakers provide improved signal alignment and off-axis response, acting as a single source by offering a full range frequency response in a self-contained driver and by centrally aligning low- and high-frequency drivers.
The speakers’ fully-combined high- and low-frequency components are powered by a ‘common magnet motor’ assembly, letting the same magnet be used for both high- and low-frequency sound reproduction. This allows the voice coils, and in turn the acoustic centres, of the two drivers to be brought closer together for a more natural sound. Using a single magnet assembly also ensures that the speakers remain lightweight and compact, making them ideal for mobile DJs to take on the road.
Made of cast aluminium and utilising a ferrite magnet, the new FTX loudspeakers are available in 12” (305mm), 8” (200mm) and 6.5” (165mm) chassis diameters, offering DJs a varying choice of robust systems. Furthermore, with ‘next generation’ Sound Castle soft clamping assemblies, diaphragm stress is reduced, offering more reliable performance and less distortion for a consistent and clearer overall sound.
The FXT0617, FXT0820 and FXT1225 will be shipping soon.
