BBC’s ‘Have I Got News For You’ Features Pro Mobile
Pro Mobile made its debut appearance on primetime television last Friday (07/11) at 9pm when it was the featured publication on BBC1’s Have I Got News For You. What’s more – we survived to tell the tale!

The long-running satirical panel show – that quizzes contestants on the week’s news – regularly features a guest publication in its ‘Missing Words’ section. This time it was Pro Mobile’s turn in the spotlight; giving the publication exposure on a national scale. The popular show, now in its 48th series, reported viewer ratings of 4.7 million back in April, according to media news outlet Digital Spy.

Pro Mobile joined host Jo Brand, regular panellists Ian Hislop and Paul Merton, Green MP Caroline Lucas, and Pointless co-presenter Richard Osman. After introducing Pro Mobile as its guest publication, presenter Brand was straight in with a perfectly executed quip. “They take requests,” she said. “Requests like: please don’t send me any more copies.”

Quick-witted comedian Paul Merton was the one to guess the missing words taken from Pro Mobile issue 67, almost getting the answer right word-for-word after suggesting that established DJs were mentally fatigued by ‘playing the same hit songs, such as the Birdie Song, over and over.’ The correct answer did include the Birdie Song, alongside other overplayed tracks such as Macarena, Gangnam Style, and the Locomotive. Mr Merton obviously feels the mobile DJ’s pain!

If you missed Pro Mobile’s fifteen minutes of fame, you can catch up online on BBC iPlayer: Series 48, Episode 06 (approximately 20 minutes in).
