Reloop Releases the Serato Compatible Beatmix 4
After teaming up with Serato, Reloop has designed the Beatmix 4; the latest product available in the Reloop series. A four-channel plug ‘n’ play controller designed for use with Serato DJ, the Beatmix 4 combines extensive mixing functions with a powerful audio interface and practical layout.
DJs will find the ‘fun to use’ controller is suitable as an introductory controller option. Due to the plug n play nature of the product, its simplistic features and the inclusion of Serato DJ, mobile DJs with limited experience of using a controller can use the Beatmix 4 to learn how a digital controller operates. This inclusion of Serato DJ means that users have reliable DJ software with which to use their controller from the moment they open the box.
A number of features make the Beatmix 4 suitable for the needs of mobile DJs. Flat touch-sensitive jog wheels, with aluminium platters and a 14.4cm diameter, allow for precise beat matching and a quick way to search within a track, as well as offering users the combination of an authentic ‘vinyl feel’ with the technology of digital DJing. These jog wheels are LED-lit around the border and on the surface, so the user remains in total control even in a darkened setting. Another aspect mobile DJs will find attractive is the drum pad section, which features 16 rubberised, multi-coloured pads, which can be used for saving cue points or samples – useful for triggering songs or sound effects for grand entrances, first dances, or speeches. These pads are colour coded, so as to avoid confusion when it comes to triggering hot cues or samples.
A specially designed layout allows for intuitive mixing and makes the controller suitable for users new to digital mixing; with dedicated equaliser and gain dials, high-quality line faders, a smooth running cross-fader, and two FX units allowing users to add creativity to their mixes. Each of the four channels can be individually controlled, with dedicated 3-band EQ control and gain control per channel.
The unit itself is light and compact but also robust, making it an easily portable controller for mobile DJs. The audio interface of the Beatmix 4 has all the connections required to mix, including a duo headphone connection (3.5mm & 6.3mm), a microphone input with separate volume control, and RCA outputs so users can connect to their speakers – allowing users to integrate the Beatmix 4 into their mobile setup.
