Saxon Announce Tour To Mark 35th Anniversary
One of the leading bands for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the late 70s and early 80s, Saxon have announced their ‘Warriors of the Road’ tour in celebration of their 35th anniversary. Launching in Athens on the 25th of September and covering 38 different venues around Europe, the tour will wrap up on the 12th of December in London.
The band which formed in Yorkshire, back in 1976, have released over twenty albums and delivered a myriad of live performances over the years, showing no sign of petering off in the near future. This endeavour stems from previous regular tours, sales of more than 15 million albums worldwide and chart success throughout Europe, the US and Japan. This latest tour will feature a set list that comprises all the best known tracks from what is known to Saxon fans as their 'The Holy Trinity', the albums: Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law and Denim and Leather.
Saxon have received a warm reception on their website from fans worldwide; ”Never surrender and keep the faith”, Miguel from Barcelona commented and Michal B from Poland wrote ”Warsaw is waiting for you”. Rob Hiles acknowledged, ”thanks so much for the years guys, I know it ain’t all party and fun. There’s a lot of hard work and effort to bring the circus to town. EVERY time I get to see you guys, you always ’deliver the goods’, to quote a song I know from somewhere, ‘Don’t ever stop’”.
The UK leg of the ‘Warriors of the Road’ tour kicks off in Bristol at the end of November. Frontman Bill Byford is looking forward to the jaunt, saying ”come and see the awesome power of Saxon live!”
