Sting & Paul Simon To Tour Next Year
Paul Simon and Sting have announced plans for their ‘On Stage Together’ tour of North America, which will commence next February.
Hailed as the biggest double act since Elton John and Billy Joel, their tour will feature 18 performances including a March 4th date at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to the New York Times. Billboard adds that each artist will play a solo set and then duet on each other’s music at the end of the show, "We don't really know where this is going," Sting told the Times, "We don't really have a clue how this is going to pan out."
The duo recently performed together at a benefit in May for the Robin Hood Foundation, singing acoustic versions of the Simon and Garfunkel song ‘The Boxer’ and Sting’s track ‘Fields Of Gold’. Sting told the Times, “After we finished it, we both looked at each other and said, 'Wow. That's pretty interesting.” The name of the tour however has been criticised by the Times for not being very inventive, so Simon made up a mish-mash of his and Sting’s songs, with ‘The Sound Of Every Breath’ being the best suggestion.
