I’m Too Smurfy!

On Saturday June the 22nd, Global Smurfs Day returns and cheesy 90s pop duo Right Said Fred are jumping on the band wagon to make a comeback with a new version of their biggest hit.
To celebrate the release of The Smurfs 2 on July 31st and Smurfs Day, Right Said Fred will be releasing ‘I’m Too Smurfy’, a re-vamped version of their iconic track ‘I’m Too Sexy’. The original version spent an incredible four months in the UK top 10 as well as reaching number 1 in 32 countries.
Brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass have ‘smurfed’ up the lyrics in honour of Smurfs Day including, "My name is Papa, you know what I mean? And I do my little turn on the Smurfwalk." The duo commented on the collaboration, “we are avid Smurf fans and really knocked out to be involved with this fantastic project. Keep Smurfin'!”
Global Smurfs Day celebrations in the UK will take place in Shepherd's Bush, London. Right Said Fred will perform their rejigged track at the family fun day which will be hosted by Magic 105.4 and benefit the charity MediCinema who build cinemas in hospitals. Dublin Zoo will also be hosting a free Smurfs Fun Day with the chance to meet the iconic characters Papa Smurf and Smurfett. The first Global Smurf Day took place back in 2011 when thousands of people across the world donned Smurf costumes and blue face paint in tribute to the cartoon creations and this year looks set to be an even bigger celebration of all things 'Smurfy'!
