Skillrex Spins Under Legend 412 From CHAUVET

Electronic music producer Skrillex rocked the house as 16 CHAUVET Professional Legend 412 moving heads projected powerful beams and striking pixel-mapping effects during the recent South By Southwest 2012 AM Only Showcase in Austin Texas.
As well as an appearance from Skillrex, the AM Only Showcase also featured performances by Laidback Luke, Kill the Noise and Knife Party to name a few. Several thousand fans gathered at Mohawk, an outdoor live-music venue, to see some of the biggest names in electronic dance music take the stage. Justin Jenkins, lighting designer for Creative Production and Design, specified 12 Legend 412 moving heads for backlighting while the remaining four fixtures created audience pixel-mapping effects and downlit the exciting show.
“We chose Legend 412 fixtures because of their RGBW LEDs and quadrant-control capability,” Jenkins said. “As far as what we were able to achieve with programming, we were really happy with how well these lights complemented the show.” Since Mohawk has a 21-by-16 foot recycled wood plank performance stage, Jenkins’ design capability was limited. Fixtures were placed on roadcases, mounted to vertical truss and suspended from pipe above the DJ booth. “We wanted different elements of eye-candy, but with limited space and a limited budget, it was hard to create an elaborate light show,” Jenkins said. “Legend 412 is a multi-faceted fixture that effortlessly created complex looks and effects.”
The Legend 412 has the ability to provide a great effect in smaller areas, which is an essential consideration for mobile DJs. The unit itself weighs a petite 4.58kgs and is just 140 x 256 x 304mm so ideal for DJs looking for a big effect from a small and easy to transport unit.
