But in 2023, we’re expecting to see many of the trends that took hold over the pandemic to fall away again, as people get back to something resembling ‘normal’. Formats that found favour during
lockdowns, such as live-streaming and webinars, will understandably become less important.
Other trends from recent years will remain relevant or even grow in popularity, including local SEO, the use of visual search, and a focus on faster, user-friendly websites.

But as always, digital marketing has evolved over the last year too, bringing about some new trends to look out for in 2023.

This year will see the shutdown of Google’s Universal Analytics product in favour of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a complete rehaul of the popular free analytics package that will put more focus on privacy whilst still helping businesses understand their website visitors.

TikToks, Reels and other short-form video content is arguably even more prominent this year, providing businesses with a whopping return on investment.

And other forms of user-generated content will be vital for small businesses who want to harness social proof to gain more enquiries from potential clients.

As with previous years, I’ve gathered recommendations and predictions from the world’s finest digital marketing nerds and whittled them down to 10 trends. But this time, I’ve split them into two categories: 5 trends you should put into action this year, and 5 trends to keep on your radar for future. Where possible I’ve tried to ensure these points are more geared towards small businesses and to mobile DJs in particular.
