ARTICLE
For many DJs, you will have ended 2019 with your busiest period and, having enjoyed a much-needed break, will now be refreshed and ready for 2020. At the beginning of each year, professional DJs often look to add to their services and explore new marketing opportunities in order to increase their business and ultimately their income. One thing to consider focusing your digital marketing on this year is something that is often overlooked...YOU! Whilst your disco setup may be the best it's ever been, it is you who will sell it, and the other services you offer, which means that you are a hugely powerful tool in business. So it’s important to make sure that you are utilising your full potential.

Fortunately, it's never been easier to create marketing content, as your mobile phone is one of your finest marketing tools. Whether it's a photo, video or a written post, you can reach your audience instantly wherever you are. A photo outside your venue or with your setup, a video message from your office, or a written post promoting a forthcoming event or new service are all things many of you will already be doing. However, it is the personal touch that takes it to a new level, so don't under-estimate how important you and your personality are to your business.

The most successful people in business have always used their personalities to achieve their goals. A solid business model is important, of course, but being able to put a face to it offers something extra.

You don't have to create super-polished videos... it's more important that they reflect who you are and your unique personality. You might be walking the dog and decide to create a video on the current state of the music industry. Or you might be setting up for an event and guide your viewers through the various stages of the build-up. You might simply be sat at home and want to reflect on how good a recent gig went. Content is king and getting you in front of the camera only enhances that content. If you aren't as confident as other DJs, then record a few shorter ‘test’ videos in the comfort of your own home until you find a style that works for you. Before you know it, you'll be uploading videos everyday. By creating a balance of video, photo and written content for the various social media platforms available, you can increase your audience reach. Your brand is powerful... and you are the brand... so don't forget to use it!
