The World’s Biggest DJ Event Hosts More Than 7000 People
The fifth annual BPM welcomed 7087 visitors, over 1000 more than in 2010. DJs from all across the world came to Birmingham on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October 2011 for informative seminars, innovative DJ sets and performances, unique networking and of course the biggest collection of DJ gear on the planet!

BPM 2011 attracted not only more visitors but more exhibitors, with many launching new products over the three day event. Allen & Heath unveiled their new Xone:DB2, Native instruments introduced the Kontrol S2, Vestax had their VCI-400, Pioneer DJ launched their new software controller for home DJs, the DDJ-ERGO, and Gemini DJ used BPM to show off their new CDJ-700 media controller.

Rob Peck, Managing Director of Gemini in the UK, had this to say about the event,"BPM is perfect for our market and we were delighted with the show’s upward progress again this year. We are hitting our target audience with BPM and the atmosphere created at the show is perfect in stimulating the DJ, Production & PA markets. We look forward to next year!"

A varied programme of more than 40 educational seminars, workshops and panel sessions ensured that BPM visitors had plenty of opportunities to learn from music business experts. Sitting in on panels this year were legendary former Radio One DJ Danny Rampling and current Friday night presenter Kutski, amongst many others. International DJ, promoter, producer and radio presenter Judge Jules also visited BPM to take part in a highly popular live Q&A session.

Throughout the event there were performances from hundreds of DJs, including lots of new talent as well as many established names. Highlights included sets from Alex Kidd, Delimentary, Jordan Suckley, Lee Haslam, Davey Asprey as well as an elite group of past DMC finalists who took part in a unique turntablism showcase. However the show was undoubtedly stolen by the legendary DJ and musical innovator Grandmaster Flash who played an energetic set to a capacity crowd to close the first day of BPM.

While most of the event was dedicated to showcasing the latest music styles, cutting-edge technology and innovative techniques, on the Sunday evening Chauvet and Denon DJ hosted the second annual Dance Classics party. Visitors enjoyed complimentary food and drink and were transported back to the 90s through energetic live PAs from Baby D and Livin’ Joy feat. Luzahnn as well as classic dance music mixed up by DJ Les Adams.

A first for BPM 2011 was the PA Experience which saw fifteen separate systems, each from a different brand and ranging in size and price, set up together and demoed separately in regular sessions, running throughout each day of BPM. The PA Experience featured speakers and amplifiers from Alto Professional, Avid, Bose, Cerwin Vega, dB Technologies, Electro-Voice, Funktion-One, JBL, KV2, LD Systems, Matrix, Peavey, RCF, Void Acoustics and Wharfedale Pro. This innovative feature gave visitors a unique opportunity to experience all of the systems in one place to help them decide which system was the most suitable for their particular requirements and budget.

"Planning and executing BPM is a really big undertaking and involves a huge amount of effort from a dedicated and passionate team.” Commented BPM Sales Director Mark Walsh. “We’re extremely pleased with the success of the event this year and also with the growth of BPM over the last five years. When the original concept for BPM was formed we didn’t dream that it would grow in the way that it has, but our vision has grown with the event and we’re now full of ideas and very excited about what the next five years will have in store.”
