THE Magazine For Mobile DJs
It's A Risky Business!
Last night I should have been in Worthing, a good 120 miles away from Marlborough in Wiltshire. By chance Liz and I got a phone call from her brother Peter who had just arrived from Toronto, Canada. The message was that he'd come to us with Mum, so no need to travel. Sometimes I think there is a god! A few hours later I got a plaintive call from my son, Rob, he had been struck down by the dreaded lurgy and there was no way he could DJ the 25th wedding anniversary that evening.

Besides the kafuffle of rescuing the gear from Rob's van and picking up his mate and Roadie Jamie (10 miles in the wrong direction) we were still able to get to the large house, situated in a plum position alongside Marlborough College, and set up ready to play on time. This certainly changed my evening's plans, but the show must go on! It turned out to be one of those really rewarding gigs where the partygoers were up for it. Setting up was a nightmare though, as our slot at the end of the marquee had black walls and ceiling, and no lights! This always makes switching on the gear interesting, if not a little risky.
