We were a little surprised here at Pro Mobile HQ when an unexpected package arrived from the guys over at Citronic. However after a quick phone call, we soon found out that it wasn't a very early Christmas present, but a piece of equipment for review. In fact we also found out that we were the first to get hold of a DVD-05 ULTIMA, latest new product to emerge from the well know DJ brand. This is a new twist on the current trend in DVD karaoke players that features a 5 disc tray.
When closed, the unit appears to have a regular disc draw that is just a little on the chubby side. However, when it is open you find that the extra size accommodates five separate plastic disc trays. The innovative design makes it is possible to open the drawer even if a disc is playing, which means that you can change discs during playback. The five draw system means that the machine can play multiple discs unattended and can even be programmed to play tracks from different discs in a particular order. Obviously this will be of more interest for bar venues than mobile DJs and KJs, although the multi-disc system can help with quick cueing.
