Coolio For Cooking?
‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ rapper Coolio plans to auction off the royalty rights to his entire back catalogue to fund his cooking career.

The sale, which is being held by Royalty Exchange, consists of 123 songs from eight different albums with an estimated sale price of between £85,000 and £143,000. The collection spans 19 years, though Coolio hasn’t entered the US or UK album charts in over 15 years. His most popular releases include 1996’s ‘1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New) and 1997’s ‘C U When You Get There’ which are said to generate £14,816 per year in royalties.

Coolio is "an iconic artist", said Sean Peace, CEO of the Royalty Exchange. "This auction is an exciting and rare opportunity for anyone looking for an alternative investment in music publishing and songwriter royalties. We are thrilled to be able to offer royalties attached to such an iconic artist, and to assist interested parties in the research, registration and bidding process."

Coolio released the surprising best-selling ‘Cookin’ With Coolio’ (pictured below) in 2009 which featured recipes such as ‘Tricked-out Westside Tilapia’, ‘Mozzerella For The Pimpish Fella’ and ‘Drunk-Ass Chicken’. Coolio, who refers to himself as ‘the black Martha Stewart’ also has his own web-based cooking programme of the same name and plans to expand both his cookbook empire and food channel.
