Ex-Secretary Robbie Earl Honoured At NADJ AGM
As well as the formalities of electing the Committee for the National Association of Disc Jockeys, their Annual General Meeting provides an opportunity for recognition to be given for the efforts of the DJs who have played an active part in the running of the Association. This year, the honour was bestowed upon Robbie Earl who has been a DJ since the 1970s and, until recently, held the position of National Secretary of the organisation.

Robbie has retired from DJing because of ill health and he stood down as the NADJ Secretary last year because of severe back pain. He's still not at full strength, but made the mammoth effort to attend the NADJ Annual Conference & AGM on Sunday 14th of April 2013. It was at this event that the association’s Chairman, Paul Arnett, had the pleasure of thanking him for being a true ambassador for DJs and for playing a vital and important part in the running of the NADJ.

Paul called Robbie to the stage during the AGM and gave a brief synopsis of the work that he has done over the years and then gave him a gift on behalf of the Association to thank him for being a well-recognised and respected spokesperson for DJs throughout the UK. Robbie was given an honorary Life Membership of the National Association of Disc Jockeys and also a gold disc.

Robbie has called his business Magic Moments for four decades and it seemed right that the gold disc was a copy of 'Magic Moments' by Perry Como, as Paul explains: "We wanted to thank Robbie for being a part of the DJ industry and for being a pro-active member of the NADJ. We thought that the gold disc was an apt gift and Robbie said to me that it will go well with a similar disc with an Elvis Presley recording on it. When Robbie came to the stage, he didn't know what was going to happen and when I thanked him for his efforts, he was almost speechless. I don't think he knew what to do when everyone in the room got up off their seats and gave him a rapturous standing ovation. It was a very proud moment for me to be on the stage with Robbie and to have worked with him over the years."

Both Pro Mobile and the NADJ hope that Robbie will enjoy his retirement and, on behalf of our readers and members, DJs across the country and other representatives from within the DJ sector, we'd like to thank him for all of his hard work.
