A rare Beatles demo of ‘What’s Going On’ will go on auction at the end of this month, along with some of the most important pieces of George Harrison’s family collection.

Beatles expert Steve Marinucci has said that the original ‘What Goes On’ was meant to be recorded during a session on March the 5th 1963, however the band ran out of time and the version up for auction has never been bootlegged. The track was eventually re-recorded in 1965 with vocals by Ringo Starr for the ‘Rubber Soul’ album. Steve also reported that George Harrison most likely took the original version of 'What Goes On' home to finish some guitar parts but never did.



In addition, the auction will also include a test pressing of the George Harrison album ‘Extra Texture,’ with song titles penned in red. It's described as a 1975 double-sided 12-inch American pressing with white labels inscribed with recording details and track listing by Harrison in red ballpoint and black felt-tip pen. Also include is an acetate of his experimental album “Electronic Music.”



Other items for auction include a pair of George's Beatles boots and a leather jacket worn during his days in Hamburg and at the Cavern Club. The auction itself, named The Entertainment Memorabilia auction, will take place at Bonhams, London on December the 12th.
