Rod’s Working Hard At 67
Rod Stewart has signed a long term multi-album deal with recording label Universal Music Group. Stewart has also agreed that the deal will involve his first ever Christmas album including a host of star studded duets.
The chairman of Universal Music Group, Lucian Grainge discussed the exciting signing, “Rod possesses one of pop music's most inventive and memorable voices; and we're delighted to be part of the next great chapter in his already storied career." In return, Stewart also commented, “I'm confident that by partnering with Lucian and his cracking, top-notch company, we have the best team in the business.”
Alongside the signing, the rocker will also be teaming with Grammy award winning producer, songwriter and Verve Music Group Chairman David Forster to record the festive album. Speaking of the collaboration Mr Grainge stated, “I've known Rod and Arnold for many years and have been wanting to work with them for some time,” Rod himself also mentioned that working with David made the deal, “That much sweeter.”
Known for his raspy, passionate voice, Rod Stewart’s career has spanned five decades and includes 18 Grammy nominations and two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007 the ‘granddad of rock’ was given a CBE by the Queen and essentially became a living legend.
Stewart will reunite with Stevie Knicks this month for their acclaimed ‘Heart & Soul’ tour, and in September will return to his residency at The Collosseum in Ceasar’s Palace, Las Vegas. His first Christmas album will be released in the UK this Autumn.
