Denon DJ Announces The SC2900
Denon DJ has announced the release of its first ever combined static-platter controller and media player. The SC2900 has been built with both club and mobile DJs in mind and includes a 7-inch Touch Sensitive ‘Eclipse’ Platter with LED Cue and Position Markers.

No longer is there a need to drag a mass of CDs to events – the SC2900 includes playback from USB drives and offers the ability to share one USB storage device over (up to) four networked Denon DJ SC2900 or SC3900 players. However, traditional CD DJs can still make the most of the front mounted CD slot, and pure-software DJs can utilise the Traktor 2 compatibility.

‘ENGINE inside’ ensures compatibility with Denon DJ's ENGINE software. This gives a unique combination of software and hardware and providing today's DJs with high speed access and control over their digital music libraries.

What sets the Denon DJ SC2900 apart from the conventional ‘club CDJ’ is the introduction of the ‘Eclipse’ platter which has glowing LED markers surrounding the circumference; ensuring that the ‘Cue Point’ and ‘Playback’ markers are displayed more clearly. This combined with the ENGINE for iPad App means that a networked iPad becomes the biggest and most versatile media navigation screen in the industry, giving every DJ a powerful way to manage tracks and playlists, ready to perform, all through the iPad touchscreen.

The button layout of the SC2900 reflects that of Denon's popular SC3900 flagship player. A bank of Loops and Cues are located top left of the platter for throwing down samples and top right are the navigation controls ensuring the fastest access to the DJing essentials. The SC2900 also shares the SC3900's newly redesigned ‘Hard’ Cue and Play buttons. The only significant layout change for the new player is the ‘SLIP’ button which replaces the SC3900's ‘DUMP’ button. This enables users to reverse loop and scratch whilst continuing playback at the same rhythm and point, an essential editing feature for mobile DJs allowing inappropriate lyrics to be removed without disturbing the flow of music.

The Denon SC2900 will be out in July and cost approximately £650.
