College Students Release Charity Single Today
South Devon College students are pleading for the public’s support as they release their own, self-made, performed, and produced single into the download charts today to raise funds for the Armed Forces charity Help for Heroes. The students hope that 'Heroes' Land' will make it in to the UK top 10 singles chart next Sunday.

The Christmas Number One ‘Wherever You Are’ by The Military Wives Choir not only raised plenty for charities, supporting servicemen and women, but also raised awareness of the thousands across the country who couldn't be together for Christmas and were apart from loved ones. Now young students at South Devon College are hoping to keep that flag flying with the release of their very own charity single.

College Music students worked to write, create, mix and produce their own charity songs to raise money for Help for Heroes. The students then competed to have their track released, hopefully into the UK charts. The winning song was chosen by a panel containing four celebrity judges: Tony Bramwell, former assistant to Beatles manager Brian Epstein and former CEO of Apple Records; prominent UK record producer Phil Harding; experienced club promoter and Mixmag journalist Kirk Field and local professional audio engineer and Education Manager at Plymouth’s Deep Blue Sound, Nick Trussler.

The winner was Christina Lloyd (pictured below) with her track, titled ‘Heroes’ Land’, which really impressed the judges, as well as College Principal Stephen Criddle and the student’s own Music lecturer and seasoned producer, Pete Day.

To launch the song, the College will be holding a special event at lunchtime today, where the single will be launched on College Radio station VIBE FM by Christina herself.

The music department is hoping to sell 25,000 copies this week to break into the top ten and ensure that a considerable amount of money is raised. The track is available to Download Here for just one week only.
