Hercules provides new details about its DJ Console Mk4
In mid-January, at the NAMM show in California, Hercules offered a sneak preview of their latest DJ controller. Today, at the Musikmesse European trade fair in Frankfurt, the manufacturer announced the release date and retail price of the new Hercules DJ Console Mk4. This 2-deck portable DJ controller, featuring built-in audio, will be available in June 2010, at a suggested retail price of £179.99.

The Hercules DJ Console Mk4 is an incredibly compact 2-deck DJ controller with built-in audio for PC and Mac®, measuring just 265mm x 187mm (10.4” x 7.3”) and weighing in at a mere 1.15kg (3.3lb). Thanks to these small measurements the Mk4 DJ Console is the ideal controller for mobile DJs, wherever they are mixing.

In addition to its two stereo outputs (one for mixing, the other for previewing tracks), the controller also features a pair of stereo audio inputs - unique in this product category – to connect any external analog audio sources. This means it is easy for DJs to integrate analog audio into their digital mix and also switch between mixing on their computer and mixing with standard DJ decks (CD or vinyl). Using the DJ Console Mk4 and the included VirtualDJ® software, DJs can manipulate external audio sources just as they would with an analog mixing setup (the cross fader, volume faders and EQ knobs control mixing between the two external decks as well as controlling those features in the software).

The MK4 offers well-spaced controls for precise mixing including two jog wheels, a cross fader, two volume faders, two pitch encoders and six EQ knobs, along with a collection of thirty-six buttons. The hardware is provided with a copy of the VirtualDJ® DJC Edition mixing software which provides a host of standard and advanced features including automatic track synchronisation, automatic loops, multiple effects, and mix recording. The Console comes with a protective cover, a shoulder strap for easy transportation, and a sub-skin featuring a printed graphic (which can be placed underneath the rigid transparent skin installed on its top panel to customise the console with an eye-catching design).

The DJ Console Mk4 with be on display at the Frankfurt Musikmesse at booth C44 in Hall 5.1 from now until Saturday 28th March.
