Industry Mourns Passing of Highlite UK’s Sue Burlow
Sue Burlow, the Managing Director of Highlite UK Ltd, who was widely respected throughout the sound and lighting industry, passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Saturday the 4th of October, aged 52. A service celebrating Sue's life will take place on Thursday the 23rd of October.

In a statement released on the Highlite International website, founders Huub and Conny de la Haije said: “Many people have known [Sue] for years as our tower of strength; our strong support at the UK office […] People who did not know her personally, know her voice: the warm welcome message, when calling Highlite International. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Malcolm Burlow and his family.”

Sue and husband Malcolm were well-known faces to visitors and big advocates of the annual London PLASA show; working hard to make the Highlite stand a success year upon year. Following Sue’s death, just prior to this year’s event, Huub and Conny admitted that they knew it would be “a major challenge for our UK sales agents and all of us, to run this year’s PLASA show.”

During Sue’s time as Managing Director of sound and lighting equipment distributors Highlite UK, she built up a unique rapport with UK customers, who “knew her personally and trusted her.” She was admired throughout the industry for treating all those she met – customers and others – with sincerity and honesty.

A service celebrating the life of Sue Burlow will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday the 23rd of October at Semington Crematorium, Devizes Road, Semington, Wiltshire, BA14 6HL. All those who knew Sue are invited to pay their respects and the service will last for one hour. According to Sue’s wishes, it has been requested that people wear bright, colourful clothes – but bring no flowers. However, donations are invited to Dorothy House Hospice and the new cancer ward appeal at the RUH Hospital Bath.

Those wishing to attend should email jim@chippenhamlions.org.uk with their name, location, association to Sue and the number of people (if applicable) in their party. All are welcome to come to attend the service to show their respects for Sue, however only invited guests will be able to attend the function afterwards.
