Pink Floyd Announce New Album Details
Pink Floyd have revealed further details about their new album, The Endless River, due to be released this November. It was back in July when the group confirmed that they would be releasing new material this autumn, for the first time in twenty years. Now, prior to the release of the album they have unveiled the album artwork on an eight-metre lit installation on London's Southbank as well as on buildings in ten other international cities.

The Endless River is based on recordings make during the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions and will be mainly instrumental music. The band have spent the last year recording new parts and re-mixing the original music, using the advantages of modern technology to create this new studio album.

Produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson, The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Although mainly an instrumental album, one song, ‘Louder Than Words’, has lyrics written by novelist and David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson.

David Gilmour said in a statement: "The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions. We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album. Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire."

Nick Mason added: "The Endless River is a tribute to Rick. I think this record is a good way of recognising a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was."

As an added extra, each person who purchases the album will be gifted a 24-page hard cover book with previously unseen photographs from the 1993 sessions. Meanwhile, the Blu-Ray version includes 39 minutes of non-album material including six video and three audio tracks. The Blu-Ray also has high resolution 5.1 surround, PCM stereo 96/24 while the DVD contains the album in 5.1 surround plus a stereo version in 48khz/24 bit. The album will be released on Parlophone/Warner Music on the 10th of November.
