Serato DJ Release Version 1.9.3 with Ableton Link
Serato has released a new update to its professional DJ software package, Serato DJ. Along with a host of bug fixes and optimisations, Version 1.9.3 sees the introduction of a new sampler, support for Roland’s DJ-808 and integration with Ableton Link, which keeps multiple devices and software applications in time when connected over a wireless network.

The most significant update for this new release is to the software’s sampler. The classic SP-6 has been transformed into the new Serato Sampler, which now includes two extra sample slots, allowing a total of eight samples to be loaded at once. The Serato team have also made a number of changes to the design of the sampler interface, with the aim of attaining better usability.

The release includes a number of important stability improvements for all Serato DJs, as well as a refreshed look and workflow for MIDI mapping. The updated software also includes support for the DJ-808, the first Serato DJ Enabled controller from the company’s partnership with Roland. It is the first DJ controller to include built-in drum sequencing with Roland's iconic TR drum sound. Finally, the new software now allows Serato DJ to synchronise with other DJs and devices using Ableton Link. Link is a technology that keeps devices in time over a wireless network, a built-in feature of Ableton and a growing number of other software and iOS apps.

“Ableton Link support provides huge benefits for DJs wanting to expand their setup and perform with others, while being perfectly in time,” explains Michael Redwood, Serato Product Team Manager. “Complimenting this are well deserved updates to the Serato Sampler, as well as support for the all-new Roland DJ-808 controller, an instrument for DJs that allows seamless movement between the DJ booth, live stage or the studio. For DJs that like to keep things simple, we’ve also worked hard on stability and performance improvements, and recommend updating.”

Serato DJ 1.9.3 is available to download now, and the update is free for existing users. For DJs looking to move to Serato DJ, the software is available for a one of payment of $99 or on subscription for $9.99 per month (prices in US Dollars).
