ARTICLE
Many dance tracks have numerous remixes, allowing DJs to select the version that works best for them and the venue. It is this attention to detail that has defined the Bargrooves brand.

The music associated with this theme became more varied with the introduction of other dance styles like nu-house, Ibiza classics and chillout, with some DJs even adding a touch of disco and pop into their sets. As with many trends, it doesn’t take long for it to evolve, as was the case with the Bargrooves vibe.
Artists including Spiller, Groove Armada, Daft Punk, Shapeshifters and Mousse T paved the way for other artists to follow and deliver an eclectic mix of styles and BPM ranges. Tracks from Soul ll Soul, Mantronix, Bobby Womack, Blondie, Kelis and Luther Vandross are good examples of how things moved in different musical directions.

Whilst the original Bargrooves concept was based around dance music, there is nothing in the rules that says you can’t take a theme and create your own version. I have really enjoyed researching this style of music and, in the process, I unearthed some forgotten classics, hidden gems and a whole range of tracks that I had not previously heard. Then, I passed these on to my audiences. By mixing up popular tracks with lesser-known hits you really can create exciting sets that deliver the required effect for audiences of all types.

Once you start looking through your music library you’ll begin to build up collections of tracks that fit perfectly and you can create elegant music solutions to use at several events. I can’t wait to be able to play this style of music again and will continually develop my digital Crates so I’m ready to offer my clients a unique music experience when that time comes.

The team at Mastermix have pooled their knowledge and created two new Crates of Lounge & Bar Grooves that include 40 individual tracks as well as a 75-minute Grandmaster featuring 30 tracks in the mix.
